I started my journey at 206 pounds. I was trying to get healthy for me and my son—who had high cholesterol as a child. I cleaned up my lifestyle, got fit, and eventually competed in bodybuilding competitions.
But even while doing everything “right,” my body started to fall apart.
I was diagnosed with lupus, Sjögren’s, and early rheumatoid arthritis. Doctors told me I’d be on medication for life.
But I refused to accept that as my future.
